Roma Sylvia (Heins) "Dottie" Lahrs, age 88, daughter of Louis and Roma (Bittner) Heins was born on September 20, 1920, on the home farm near Luana, Iowa. She went to her heavenly home on February 25, 2009, from the Guttenberg Care Center after a long battle with cancer. Roma received her education in the rural school at Luana. She was united in marriage to Freddie Lahrs on February 12, 1941 at Guttenberg. Roma enjoyed her family of sisters, gardening, fishing, refinishing furniture, going to auctions, keeping her yard in tip top shape and traveling. Roma will be missed by her sisters, Hazel Andereggof Garnavillo, LaVonne (Glen) Mueller of Elkader, Betty (Henry) Geick of Guttenberg, Shirley Sutton and Rose Marie (Richard) Duwe of Garnavillo, and Gerene (William) Morarend of Newark, Delaware, she will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Roma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Freddie, one brother, Cyril, three sisters, Birdena Behrend, Violet McNally, and Ida Mae Behrend, two nephews, Roland McNally and Eugene Behrend; and two brothers-in-law, Harold "Red" Anderegg and William Sutton.

Honorary Bearers: Norma Ball, Carol Genrich, Beverly Hamann, Patricia Loukota, Madonna Mueller, Joan Cortes, Connie Onken, Linda Jensen, Diana Cody, Monica Bonafede, Cynthia Morarend, and Mary Lou Leete.

Casket Bearers: Bob Behrend, Leon Dietz, Mike Duwe, Carl Leete, Jeff McNally, and Gary Geick.

GUTTENBERG, Iowa - Roma Sylvia "Dottie" (Heins) Lahrs, 88, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at Guttenberg Care Center, Guttenberg, following a long battle with cancer.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Clayton Center Cemetery, Clayton Center.

The Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Garnavillo, is in charge of arrangements.
