Elkader Register, Thur., 27 Mar. 1890. Our Local Scrap-Bag column.

Monday afternoon about five o'clock, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Stoub, living near town, were engaged out of doors, leaving their little children in the house for a short time. In their absence a little three year old in some manner, in playing about the stove, got her clothes on fire. The children screamed and the parents hastened to the rescue, but before anything could be done the little one was wrapped in flames. Dr. Fuller was immediately summoned and did what was possible to relieve her suffering, but death claimed her for himself at about 12 o'clock. The child was terribly burned about its body, even its hair being burnt to a crisp. The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Mr. Keniston officiating.
