On Tuesday, February 18th, 1890, occurred the death of Thomas McCrae at his home near Volga City, from lockjaw, caused by having one hand mangled in a sawing machine. He suffered intensely during the few days of his illness.
The parents are most prostrate with grief, this being the third child they had to part with within a year. He was 27 years of age, highly respected by all.
He leaves a wife and one child, a little daughter, father, mother, brother and sister to mourn for him.
The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church, Sunday, February 23rd, and Rev. J.G. Whitford preached the funeral sermon. There was a large number of people present. The heartfelt sympathy of all is extended to the sorrowing friends in this sad hour.
