George Borman, father of August Borman, of this place, died at the residence of his son Saturday morning, Jan. 11th after a sickness of several weeks. He was 85 years, 5 months and 1 day of age.
Deceased was a native of Adenstadt, Hanover, Germany, where he was born August 10th, 1804. He resided with his parents until June 15th, 1830, when he was married at Aberhausen, Hanover. After his marriage he resided in Germany until 1852 when he came to the United States, landing in this country August 15th, and he located in Illinois. One year later he removed to Iowa, settling in Jackson county, but in 1854 he came to Clayton county where he has since resided continuously, respected by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. In 1878 his wife died and since that time he has resided with his children, of whom two sons, one in Kansas, and August of this place survive him.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, and was quite largely attended by his old friends and neighbors. The Gesang-verein attended the funeral in a body.
