Clayton County Register, Wed., 28 Dec. 2011.
Marjorie Marie Dutka, 84, formerly of Volga, died Saturday, December 17, at the Elkader Care Center. She was born July 23, 1927, in Marquette, to Allen and Lillian (Baldwin) Conklin. She graduated from Marquette High School in 1945.
In 1946, she was united in marriage to Earl Hansen. The couple made their home in Marquette. Six children were born to this union. They later divorced. In 1961, Marjorie married Elwood Dutka; they made their home and farmed near Garnavillo. In 1978, the couple moved to Volga where they purchased a home. For seven years, the couple operated LD's Retaurant before retiring. Marjorie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Volga. She loved her family, enjoyed gardening and volunteering.
Survivors include her children, Elmer (Rose) Hansen, of Burr Oak; Mary (George) Patrinos of Stoughten, Wis.; Sandy (Ron) English of Trinidad, CO; Earl (Diane) Hansen of Grand Prairie, TX; Ron Hansen of Kansas City, KS; Michael Hansen (friend Linda Laport) of Stoughton, WI; sixteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Philip (Ann) Conklin of Harwick, MA; and many friends.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four grandchildren, Megan, Abby, Haley and Tyler Hansen; daughter, Karen Sue Hansen; brothers, Edward, Joe and Martin Conklin; sisters, Henrietta Meredith and Emily Slack.
A mass of Christian burial was held Thursday, December 22, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Volga with the Very Rev. Paul R. Peters as celebrant. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Volga. Visitation was Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Leonard Funeral Home in Elkader and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Jennifer Ciesielski, organist. Casket bearers were Peter Hansen, Danio Patrinos, Tonio Patrinos, Stefanio Patrinos, Paul Doeppke and Huberr Hansen.
Note: Stoughten/Stoughton, WI. The proper spelling is Stoughton. It appears that Marjorie either had 7 children, six of whom were living at her death, or that Karen Sue Hansen was perhaps a daughter-in-law. Researchers will need to verify.
