Stroschein, Lester Louis "Les" 1944 - 2009

Lester Louis Stroschein, 65, of Marion, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at home.

Services were held Saturday morning, April 18, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion. Burial will be at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery in Elkader.

Survivors include his three children, Bill Stroschein and wife, Brenda, of Marion, Dan Stroschein of Marion, and Tammy Stroschein-Taylor and husband, Tim, of Milwaukee, WI; two brothers, Joe Stroschein and wife, Deb, of Elkader, Fred Stroschein of Elkader; one sister, Ruth Schofield of Deltona, Florida; five grandchildren, Jordan, Austin, Ryan, Madison Stroschein, Grant Dean Taylor; and former wife, Judy Stroschein of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ronald Stroschein

Les was born January 6, 1944, the son of C. W. and Marion (Kellogg) Stroschein, in Elkader. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1965, during the Vietnam War. Les was married to Judy Chappell, and from this union three children were born. They later divorced. Les worked at Rockwell Collins for 44 years, was a member of the IBEW Local #1362, and was a former member of the American Legion.

Les enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and attending their many activities. He was an avid traveler and frequently went overseas. He enjoyed gardening, listening to music and spoiling his granddogs, Stuffy, Seamus, and Lucky. Les will be remembered as a loving father, brother and "Papa." He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
