Velma C. Kelly,70, of East Dubuque, Ill., formerly of Volga and Hazel Green, Wis., died of cancer Saturday evening, May 10, 1997, in Finley Hospital, Dubuque. Graveside services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Volga Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, Ill.

Survivors include her husband, William B.; a daughter, Penny and husband Michael Behounek of Chelsea; three sons, Gary Keehner of Oelwein, Chad of Volga and Kim Keehner of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, Mable Daly of Prairie du Chien, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William; and a son, Carrol "Butch" Keehner, on Dec. 21, 1967.

Born Sept. 30, 1926, in Rocky Ford, Colo., the daughter of Bud and Katie (Becker) Glessner, she married Carrol Keehner in 1946.

She later married William B. Kelly on Aug. 6, 1960, in Prairie du Chien, Wis.

Velma was employed by US West Telephone Co. in the records division, retiring in 1986. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and counted cross-stitch. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Volga.

The family requests no flowers. A memorial fund has been established.
