Stanley: Funeral services for Gary Lee Keehner, formerly of Oelwein, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 26,at Hintz-Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein, with Rev. Al Hock officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Volga.
Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Keehner, 50, died Thursday morning, June 22 2000, at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters, Oelwein, after a sudden illness.
He was born Oct. 29, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Carrol and Velma (Glessner) Keehner, He graduated from Elkader High School in 1967. He owned the Country Cottage Cafe in Oelwein for 15 years. He worked as a telephone repairman for 23 years, starting with Northwestern Bell, then AT&T and was working for U.S. West at the time of his death. Gary loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a member of Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited.
Survivors include daughter, Jami (Tracy) Tafolla of Quantico, Va.; son, Travis of San Diego, Calif.; five grandchildren; two brothers, Kim Keehner of Prairie du Chien, Wis., and Chad of Oelwein; one sister, Penny (Michael) Behounek of Chelsea, Iowa; and his father, Carrol of Victoria, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Velma; one brother, Carrol 'Butch'; and his stepfather. William Kelly.
