Funeral services for Russell Reinitz, 82, of Guttenberg, were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Harold McMillin.
He died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital.
Burial was in Guttenberg City Cemetery with the following pallbearers: Harlan Backes, Dennis Hanna, Russell Schroeder, Ed Dvorak, Tim Rausch and Alex (A.J.) Smith.
Russell Fischer Reinitz was born June 30, 1918, in Guttenberg, son of Theodore and Mathilda (Fischer) Reinitz.
Russ graduated from the Guttenberg High School and attended Bayless Business College in Dubuque. He served his country in the United States Army during World War Two and he also served on the Guttenberg School Board, St. John's Church Council and was the Debt Retirement Treasurer. He enjoyed photography, gardening, writing letters and telling humorous stories.
On Dec. 9, 1947, Russ was united in marriage with Ione Meyer at St. John's Lutheran Church in Guttenberg.
Survivors include his wife, Ione; three daughters, Peggy (Jerry) Rausch of Guttenberg, Nancy (Larry) Kelley of Dothan, Ala., and Jane (David) Pearson of Bondurant; five grandchildren, Timothy and Melanie Rausch, Michelle and Alex (A.J.) Smith and Paige Pearson; one brother, Burnell (Phyllis) Reinitz of Guttenberg; his mother-in-law, Malinda Meyer of Guttenberg and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
