It is with deep sympathy that we chronicle the great affliction that has come to Chas. Roggman, deputy clerk of the courts, and his wife, in the death of their little son John Alvin Robert. About a week ago the little one stepped upon a rake receiving only a slight injury. The wound healed and no particular attention was given it until Thursday last when it was believed that lockjaw had set in. A specialist from Chicago was called and every effort made to relieve the little sufferer, but Sunday afternoon death claimed its victim.

John Alvin Robert was born at Garnavillo, Sept. 30th, 1893; he was a bright, precious little fellow, whose untimely demise has sorely wounded the hearts of his loving parents and relatives.

The funeral was held Tuesday morning. A short service was held at the home of the parents, and a more extended service held in the church at Garnavillo, by Rev. G. W. Baxter. The attendance at the service was large and the floral tributes very extensive. Would that we could offer some consolation to the stricken parents.
