Elkader Register, Fri., 13 Oct. 1882.
This week it becomes our painful duty to announce the death of Louis H. Blanchaine, which occurred at East Elkport, Iowa, on last Saturday, October 7th, 1882, after a bedfast illness of but a few days.
For some weeks he has been unwell, but not until last week had his situation become alarming, caused by bilious trouble and complications.
Louis H., son of Charles Blanchaine, was born and raised in this township, and for a few years has clerked in the store of John Garber & Son. He was kind and courteous to all, and was so highly respected as to be regarded as one of the model young men of our vicinity.
A little less than a year ago he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Musfeldt, and but lately, a daughter had come to bless their happy union. Born September 19th, 1860, he but just passed the 22nd milestone of life, to be cut down in the vigor of early manhood.
His unexpected death is mourned by all, and to the stricken young widow, infant daughter and relatives is heartfelt sympathy extended. The funeral services on last Sabbath were conducted by Rev. Dornseif, and the last sad rites in the Elkport cemetery were assisted in by a large concourse of sorrowing friends. A noble young man gone. Peace to his ashes and ever green be his memory.
