Elkader Register, Fri., 30 June 1882.

Died- On Wednesday, June 21st, 1882, Henry Marien, of Farmersburg twp., aged 40 years.

Deceased was born in Mecklenberg, Germany, and was a member of the German army during the wars of 18__ (looks like 66-7) and 1870-1, and must have been a very brave man, as he possessed several decorations, one of them being the Iron Cross. He came to Clayton county some ten years ago, and was unmarried. He died at the residence of Louis Fuelling, where he had been working. The funeral occurred on Friday, Rev. F. W. Seifert officiating.
