Elkader Register, Fri., 1 Dec. 1882.

A negro named Powell, who resided near National, was accidentally killed on Monday, by falling from the hay mow in his barn and breaking his neck. Deceased located in Farmersburg township about 1865, and was about 85 years of age. He was a quiet, unostentatious man, always attending to his own business, and highly respected by all. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his loss.
