G. Helene Amling
Mason City -- G. Helene Amling, 89, of 302 Second St. N.E., died (May 23, 1993) at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 209 Second St. N.E.. The Rev. Donald Simmonds of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the North Iowa Medical Center Foundation.
Mrs. Amling was born May 30, 1903, at Des Moines, the daughter of Thomas K. and Ina K. (Blackman) Trissel. She graduated from Waterloo High School received normal training from Drake University, then attended Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio.
She married Louis J. Amling on Jan. 2, 1929 at Elkport, Iowa. They moved to Mason City in 1934. She owned and operated The Drama Shop in Mason City for many years.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pilot Club, Eastern Star, White Shrine and volunteered over 4,000 hours at the North Iowa Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband, Louis J. Amling of Mason City; a daughter, Kaye Jensen of White Bear Lake, Minn.; one son, Russell Keyes and his wife, Jen Amling of Madison Lake, Minn.; a grandson, Douglas H. Jensen and wife, Kate Ryan of Stacy, Minn.; four granddaughters, Kathy L. and husband Kosta Gabriel of Kuwait; Leslie S. and husband Patrick Bowman, of White Bear Lake, Minn., Brenda L. and husband Curt Markkola of Parker, Ariz., and Susan M. and husband Jesus Severiano of Roseville, Minn.; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and on sister, Katherine Heymann.
