Elkader Register, Fri., 6 May 1881.
After going to press last week, we learned that the injuries sustained by Dr. Randall, of Littleport, and mentioned in the Register, had proven fatal, and that he died Wednesday evening, after lying in an unconscious condition all day.
A post-mortem examination by Dr. Taft, revealed the fact that his death was caused by dislocation of the neck, but as to how he came to fall from the horse, still remains a mystery.
There is a sad story connected with this incident. Dr. Randall was engaged to be married to a young lady in New York, and at the time of his accident she was on her way to meet him at Dubuque, where the ceremony was to take place. On reaching Dubuque she received news of his being called to his long home. At the funeral, Friday, after the services and when the earth was about to cover all that was mortal of him who was so dear to her, she fell in convulsions, and has since been very ill at the Gifford House.
