Elkader Register, Thur., 3 Feb. 1881.

We learn with regret that Patrick Shields, an old and respected resident of Highland township, died at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday morning, of lung fever. Mr. Shields was born in county Galway, Ireland; was 67 years old; and has resided in Highland twp. for over twenty-five years. He leaves a family of seven sons and one daughter. His remains were brought to Elkader yesterday for burial. May they rest in peace.
