Funeral services for Irene Ruth Reinke, 74, were held Friday, March 11, 1994, at Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona. Pastor Gary Dobbins officiated the service with burial in the Monona City Cemetery, Monona. Honorary pallbearers were John Wachter, Jackson Turner, Harlan Hass, David Schlitter, Harvey Montour and Harland Kutzbach. Pallbearers were Kevin Kammerer, Brent Carlson, Robert Trappe, Ronald D. Mueller, Roger Winters and Jim Thompson.

Irene Ruth Reinke, daughter of William and Esther (Debes) Marfilius, was born April 5, 1919, in Farmersburg Township, rural Farmersburg, Iowa. She was baptized June 22, 1919, and confirmed August 24, 1932, at the Prairie Salem Evangelical Church. She received her education at Hawkeye Grade School, rural Farmersburg, and graduated from Farmersburg High School in 1937. On October 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Gordon Carl Reinke at the Pilgrim Evangelical Church at Monona. For the next 37 years she was actively involved in homemaking and farming with Gordon. They retired in October of 1979 at which time they moved to Monona. Irene was dedicated to serving her church and community through many organizations. Irene Reinke died Tuesday, March 8, 1994, at the Lacrosse Lutheran Hospital, Lacrosse, Wis. She was a member of the Prairie Salem Evangelical Church, Pilgrim Evangelical United Brethren Church and its successor the Garden City United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her one daughter Marla (Mrs. Gary) Nikodim of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Garon of Madison, Wis.; and Robert of Janesville, Wis.; two grandchildren, Brian and Kevin Reinke; one brother, Dayton Marfilius of Monona.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Gordon, who died December 4, 1992; her parents; and her sisters, Harriet Foels and Ethel Carlson.
