Died.
At the home of his daughter, near Littleport, on the (looks like 20th ult., Joseph Bremner, aged 85 years.
The subject of this brief sketch was born in the county of (looks like Calthness), Scotland, in 1796. He came to America in the spring of 1816, encountering many hardships during the voyage, the vessel being frozen in the ice for nearly three weeks. On landing in America he settled at Hudson Bay, and was engaged in the fur business for the Hudson Bay Company, for a number of years. Becoming tired of this business he removed to Selkirk Settlement, now known as Manatoba, where, in 1828, he was married to Miss (looks like Dorathy) McKoy, who died in 1837, leaving him and three children to mourn her loss.
In the fall of (looks like 1837) he came to the United States, and settled at Scotch Grove, Jones county, Iowa, being one of the first settlers of that county. He remained in Jones county the greater portion of the time until 1868, when he removed to Littleport, this county, where he lived the remainder of his days.
He was a devout Christian, a member of the M.E. church, and was well prepared to enter into the kingdom above, at the Masters call.
