ISAAC McEVERS.
Isaac McEvers was born on Bear Creek in Clayton County, Iowa, August 26th, 1854, and his entire life was spent in this county.
On August 22, 1875, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Lee and they lived happily together. To this union nine children were born, one infant, Ella, dying in infancy.
Besides his loving wife he leaves to mourn his death his four sons an four daughters, one brother and one sister, viz: Bert McEvers, of Robbins, Iowa; John McEvers, of Garber, Iowa; Clarence and Roy, at home at Elkport; Mrs. Tillie Herb, of Palo, Iowa, Mrs. Nettie Amling, of Garber, Iowa; Mrs. Daisy Spittler, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Mrs. Blanche Whitman of Manchester, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Rose Ann Pratt, and one brother, John McEvers, of Galena, Ill., and twenty-two grandchildren, besides other relatives and many friends. His age at the time of death was 59 years, one month and one day, the soul taking its flight at 12:00 p. m., Sept. 27th, 1913. May be rest in peace.
The funeral was largely attended in spite of inclement weather. Rev. S. Hansel conducted the burial services. The songs were sung by Mrs. A. Homann, Mrs. A. Benschneider, Mrs. C. Dietrich Beck and Mrs. F. Dennis. They were “Sweetly Resting,” “O, Think of the Home over there,” “In the Sweet Bye and Bye,” and “Nearer My God to Thee.” Text, 15th Chapter of first Corinthians, verses one and two.
The pallbearers were the Messrs. Ed Jennings, Wm. Costigan, F. Krieg, B. Hageman, J. Rentschler and S. Smith. Burial took place in Mt. Harmony Cemetery.
