Strawberry Point- Funeral services for Mrs. Carl W. Buls took place Saturday at the Franklin undertaking parlors, conducted by Rev. Samuel L. Unger, after which the remains were shipped to Milwaukee, Wis., where other services and interment will be Monday. The business places were all closed during the services.
Mrs. Buls, nee Miss Jeanette Marie Zander, was born June 18, 1886, and died at her home in Strawberry Point Thursday, Jan. 10, at the age of 42 years. When a young girl she moved with her parents to Oceane County, Michigan, where her father conducted a fruit farm for several years. While there she became interested in the millinery trade in which occupation she was very successful. The family moved to Tripoli where she managed the millinery department of the Tripoli Mercantile company for a number of years. On November 28, 1913, she was united in marriage to Carl Buls at Tripoli, where they resided for eight years. The family moved to Independence where they lived nearly one year and nearly five years ago Mr. Buls purchased a drug store here where they have since resided. She is survived by her husband, daughter Joyce, of this place, her mother, Mrs. Marie Zander, and two brothers, Henry and Herman, all of Milwaukee, Wis. One son, Carl Jr., preceded her in death.
