Cynthia J. Coonfare died at Garber, Iowa, December 27, 1938, having been bedfast during the past five months. She was born to William and Clarissa Hinkle at Joplin, Mo., April 5, 1865, and at the time of her death had attained the age of 73 years, 8 months and 22 days.
When she was three years of age she moved with her parents to a farm at Edes Grove, Iowa. On September 6, 1886, she was married to James A. Coonfare. Three children survive her: Grace, Mrs. John O'Meara, of Seattle, Wash.; Lelah, Mrs. Earl Short, of Lewistown, Mont.; and Guy of Guttenberg. Besides the three children, she leaves to mourn her departure one brother, Ira Hinkle, and three grandchildren and many friends. Two sisters preceded her in death.
Mrs. Coonfare was a kind and gentle woman. Even during her long and painful illness and the sudden death of her husband last September, her patience and cheerfulness were noteworthy and an inspiration to all who knew her.
Funeral services were December 30 at the St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church of Garber, and burial was in Communia Cemetery, the Rev. C. D. Schrupp officiating.
Caskett-bearers were Chas. Piker, James McLane, Realto Berns, Ernest Smock, Leo Kishbaum and Leo Flaherty.
