Floyd J. Gruel, 68, of 3000 J St. SW, formerly of the Farmersburg area, died Friday at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City following a brief illness.
Born Sept. 15, 1916, at Luana, he married Iva Mae Klinkenberg Dec. 3, 1941, at Farmersburg. He farmed for 18 years in the Farmersburg area, and then worked for the Sawyer Tie Co. at Monona. Most recently he was employed by Perkins Cake & Steak restaurant at Cedar Rapids. He was a member of Farmersburg Lutheran Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Janet Flanagan of Rockford, Ill., Carol Geisbauer of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Nancy Simon of Cedar Rapids; and three grandchildren.
Services: 9 a.m. Monday at Turner Chapel West by the Rev. David Young of Hope Lutheran Church. Burial: Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery, Farmersburg, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Farmersburg Lutheran Church. Friends may call at Turner's from noon to 9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Monday.
