Elkader- Arthur G. Elvers, 72, retired farmer and court bailiff in Clayton County the past 11 years, died Monday morning at his home after a long illness.

Surviving are his wife, LaNelle; a son, Jon of Elkader; two daughters, Sharon Cousins of Elkader and Marcia Potter of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; and a twin brother, Adolph Elvers of Elkader.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Peace United Church of Christ. Burial: East Side Cemetery. Friends may call at Witt's after 2 p.m. today, where there will be a Masonic service at 8 tonight. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
