Albert Carl Emil Engelhardt, son of Henry and Reka Schmidt Engelhardt, was born May 3, 1884, in Wagner township, Clayton County, Iowa, and died July 10, 1955. He was baptized June 22, 1884, by the Rev. F. W. Seifert, and confirmed April 3, 1898 at Zion Lutheran church by the Rev. F. W. Seifert.
On Feb. 15, 1906, he was married to Hattie Schmidt at the home of her parents by the Rev. F. G. Braun. They started farming after their marriage on the place where Millard Houg now lives, later moving to the farm across the road where Clarence Engelhardt now lives. Because of ill health he retired to St. Olaf for awhile, then went to farming again, moving to their present home in Farmersburg Jan. 17, 1940.
Mr. Engelhardt was a member of St. John Lutheran church of Farmersburg and the Lutheran Brotherhood.
He is survived by his wife and four children, Mrs. Herb (Lenora) Lenth, Monona; Lester and Clarence, Farmersburg; and Orval, Hawkeye, Iowa; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters and five brothers.
Services were held July 12, at the St. John Lutheran Church at Farmersburg with the Rev. R. H. Steege officiating. Burial was in the F. and W. Cemetery near Farmersburg.
Pallbearers were Orval Mueller, Philip Sedlmayr, Elmer Drahn, Carl Mueller, and Oscar Torkelson.
Women in charge of flowers were: Mrs. James Probert, Mrs. Hervey Dahlstrom, Shirley and Dorothy Engelhardt.
