Funeral services for DeLorse Henry Fritz, 48, were held Sunday, March 12, from the Thornburg Funeral Home in McGregor to the Giard Methodist Church at 2 p.m. The Rev. Kent Kastler officiated.
Music was provided by Mrs. John Bernhard and Mrs. Melvin Beimfohr. Military rites were conducted by the St. Olaf Legion post, of which he was a member. Pallbearers were Milton Hamann, LeRoy Meyer, Elmer Heiden, Charles Erickson, Melvin Matt and LeRoy Larson.
Mr. Fritz lived in a rural home east of National and at the time of his death was employed as a salesman for the Moorman Mfg. Co., Quincy, Ill.
He became suddenly ill at his home March 8 and was taken to the McGregor Hospital where he passed away the next day at 9:30 p.m., March 9.
A son of Henry and Emma William Fritz, he was born Dec. 23, 1918, at Edgewood. He was baptized Sept. 24, 1919, at Wood Center by the Rev. Godfrey Tietz. He received his education in the Littleport public school from which he graduated in 1937.
On Dec. 23, 1944, Mr. Fritz was united in marriage to Virgil Demo at the Army Air Base Chapel in Orlando, Fla., by Chaplain Willard Samuelson. He served four years in the armed forces of his country and after his discharge on Jan. 16, 1946, he returned to Clayton County to make his home east of National.
Surviving are his wife, Virgil, one daughter, Marsha, and one son, Larry, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fritz, Elkport; two sisters, Mrs. George (Esther) Hakert, Elkader, Mrs. Donald (Viola) Martin, Cedar Falls; two brothers, Burdette, Strawberry Point, and Lowell, Garber.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
