Otto Fuelling, 58, mayor of Farmersburg and a former state representative for Clayton county, died at his home of a heart attack Thursday night, Aug. 28. Funeral services were held at the Farmersburg opera house Sunday afternoon, and were in charge of the Consistory of Clinton.

In addition to serving as mayor for 23 years, Mr. Fuelling was a councilman in Farmersburg for a six year period.

Elected to the state legislature in 1932, he was the representative for Clayton county for three terms of the general assembly. He had served as a director of the Farmersburg Savings bank and as a member of the school board there.

Mr. Fuelling was a graduate of Farmersburg high school and from a business college in Cedar Rapids. He became a partner in his father's lumber business in 1908, and since 1918 he had been its sole operator. For a number of years he also had operated a lumber yard in Monona.

He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner.

May 12, 1910, he was married to Genevieve Brown of Cresco.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Kenneth W. of Oregon, Ill., a daughter, Winefred E. Fuelling of Chicago, and three grandchildren, Jannes, Orrin, and Gene.

Burial was in the Farmersburg and Wagner cemetery, with services at the grave by the Masonic lodge.

Pallbearers were: Hugo H. Oelke, Carl Gall, Henry Kruse, H. J. Kiple, Ed Johnson, Arthur Hinsch, Charles Hinsch, and W. W. Davidson. Honorary pallbearers were: Carroll H. Oelke, Carl Meyer of Calmar, M. X. Geske of McGregor, Jas. Gronin, John Daniels and Emmett Bergemeyer of Dubuque, Russell Baker of Decorah, Gus Tornowsky of Monona, G. R. Smith of Chicago, and Dr. L. A. Meder and Charles Meder of Elkader.
