Vandy Joseph Hodach, son of Joseph and Anna Hodach, was born Sept. 28, 1895, in Czechoslovakia. At the age of six he came with his mother, brother and sisters to the United States, and with them settled in Muscoda, Wis.
He grew up and attended the schools in that area.
On Sept. 9, 1926, he was married to Lucy Lenth of Elkader. To this union was born one daughter, Mary Lou, who died in infancy, Aug. 25, 1934.
Mr. Hodach had suffered from a heart ailment for the past 14 years. He died May 3, 1960, at the Richland Hospital, Richland Center, Wis.
Besides his infant daughter, Mary Lou, he was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister, Mrs. Mary Marish, and his brother, Joe Hodach.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy, his sister, Mrs. Bessie Kratochwill, and his stepbrothers, Adolph Machotka and Frank Machotka.
Mr. Hodach was active in the affairs of the Muscoda community all his life. At the time of his death he was manager of the Kraft Foods warehouse and had been a company employee for 42 years. He was a member of the Muscoda Masonic Lodge No. 70, A.F. and A.M., the Madison Consistory of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Freemasonry, and the Laurel Chapter 127 of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a former member of the Muscoda school board and the Muscoda library board. Mr. Hodach was at the time of his death serving as a trustee on the Muscoda village board.
Because of his active interest in the affairs of the community and his many friendly contacts associated with his work, he leaves to mourn beside his immediate relatives a host of friends.
Masonic funeral services were held at the Godager funeral chapel at Muscoda, Wis., Thursday evening with the Muscoda Masonic Lodge in charge. Church services were held at the Presbyterian church of Muscoda at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, May 6, 1960. The Rev. Lyle Graff officiated.
The body was brought to Elkader for burial at the East Side cemetery.
