Farmersburg- Services were Monday at St. John's Lutheran church here for Henry Henning, who died last Friday.
He was born Oct. 29, 1864 in Garnavillo township, son of John and Catherine (Schultz) Henning. On Dec. 8, 1892 he married Sophia Backhous and they spent all but two years of their married life on a farm near here.
Surviving are his wife; four children, Mrs. John (Nelda) Muller, of Luana, Marvin, Mrs. Herb (Selma) Zurcher and Arno, all of Farmersburg; a sister, Mrs. Henry Meyer, of Monona, and 14 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Aug. 8, at 2 o'clock, at the St. John's Lutheran church at Farmersburg for Henry Henning, who died Friday, Aug. 6.
He was the son of John and Catherine (nee Schultz) Henning and was born in Garnavillo township Oct. 20, 1864. On Jan. 21, 1865, he was baptized in the Lutheran church at Garnavillo. The early days of his life were spent on the farm with his parents in Garnavillo township, where he attended public and religious school. He was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Garnavillo on March 19, 1879, by the Rev. Starcke.
Dec. 8, 1892, he was married to Sophia Backhaus. For a while the young couple lived on a farm in Garnavillo township, and in 1893 they moved to their farm in Farmersburg township, where he spent the remaining years of his life. For the last several years he and his wife lived on this farm with their son Arno and family.
Mr. Henning was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Farmersburg, of which he was a council member for many years. He was a charter member of the Brotherhood and for the past several years was an honorary member of that group.
Mr. and Mrs. Henning celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Dec. 28, 1942.
For the past year Mr. Henning had been in failing health. Last winter he was very sick, but rallied again and was able to be up and around with his family. Last Sunday he took sick again and died Friday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m.
Preceding him in death were one sister, two brothers, one son, Harvey, and one daughter, Alvina.
Surviving him are his wife; his four children, Nelda (Mrs. John Muller), Luana, Marvin, Farmersburg, Selma (Mrs. Herb Zurcher), Farmersburg, and Arno, Farmersburg; one sister, Mrs. Henry Meyer of Monona; and 14 grandchildren, besides many other relatives and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were: Elmer Muller, Geo. Harnack, Robert Corlett, Wm. Kurdelmeier, Theo. Matt, Carl Lenth, Wm. Scherf, and Orval Tielbar.
Honorary pallbearers were: Gott Zurcher, Helmuth Oelke, James Mathews, Wm. Matt, Wm. Buckman, Wm. Radloff, Ed Johnston and Charles Behrend
