Elkader- Funeral services for William Swartz, well known Elkader resident, will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the home to Frieden's Evangelical Church at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Paul Kitterer, pastor, officiating, according to arrangements completed Thursday.

Mr. Swartz died at his home here Tuesday night following a long illness.

William T. Swartz died at his home here in Elkader on Oct. 30th, at the age of 62 years and 20 days.

The deceased, son of August Swartz and his wife Marie, was born in Charles City on October 10th, 1878. He spent the first 40 years of his life in that place and there he grew to manhood. He graduated from the high school and business college and then chose the hardware for his life work.

On June 01, 1910, at Charles City, he was united in marriage to Anna Louise Wulff, who survives him in death. In the year 1919 Mr. and Mrs. Swartz moved to Elkader which has been their home ever since.

Mr. Swartz was, not only a capable worker, but a pleasant man to have dealings with. His health began to fail about two years ago and for the last year his ailment became acute and he suffered much pain although he was confined to his bed only about ten days before his death.

He was an active and faithful member of the Frieden's Evangelical church. He was a willing helper wherever he could serve. He will be missed by his many friends.

His death is mourned by his wife and three brothers: Charles F. Swartz of Hitchcock, S.D., E. H. Swartz of Elkader, and Frederick Swartz of Edmonton, Canada.

Funeral services were held from the late home on Friday afternoon at 1:30 and at the Friedens Evangelical church at 2:00. Burial was made in the East Side cemetery, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating. Casketbearers were: H. M. Wolf, John Bock, Wm. Muenchh, A. A. Schultz, L. F. Buckman and Art Hochhaus.

Out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the services included: Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Swant and son of Charles City; Mrs. Herman Wulff and Mrs. William Wulff, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wulff, all of Floyd, Iowa; Mrs. A. H. McKinney of Charles City and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Groesbeck.
