Jon William White was born June 5, 1936 at Garber, Iowa. His parents are Marguerite ( Tompkins ) White and Emmet White.
He was united in marriage with Marlene Chopard, August 20, 1958 at New Hampton, Iowa. One son, Perry was born to this union.
He worked for several years with the Beatty Feed Mill of Edgewood and for the past two years he has been Parts Manager for the A. Welterlen and Son Implement shop in Edgewood. He lived most of his life in the Edgewood community. He was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church of Littleport, Iowa. Last Friday, December 15, he entered the University Hospital and underwent open heart surgery Tuesday, December 19. He passed away Tuesday evening at the age 31 years, 6 months and 14 days.
he is survived by his wife, Marlene; his son, Perry; his mother and father of Guttenberg, two brothers, Ronnie in the U.S. Navy at San Diego, Calif.; Ricky of Guttenberg; three sisters, Janet, Mrs. William Lundt of Guttenberg; Sharon, Mrs. Fred Wade of Clinton; and Corrinne, Mrs. Gary Leliefeld of Guttenberg. Also two nieces and three nephews.
Services were held Friday December 22, from the Appleton Funeral Home to the Congregational Church by Rev. Eugene Shipp. Casket bearers were John Welterlen, Gary Hartbeck, Ralph Chopard, Victor Ericson, Fredrick Scott and Melvin Germane, with internment in the Edgewood Cemetery.
