Paul Berens, a retired farmer living in Edgewood, Iowa passed away at his home December 15, 1967. The son of Herman and Elise Holland Berens, he was born at Wood June 24, 1896 where he spent the early part of his life, except the last eight years he spent in Edgewood.
He was united in marriage with Edie Bissell February 22, 1921 at Wood, Iowa. To this union 3 sons were born.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, Avalon Lodge, Woodland Grange and KP Lodge of Edgewood.
He was preceded in death by a grandson.
He is survived by his wife Edie, and three sons, Dr. Burdette of Kalkaska, Mich., Max of Mulberry, Florida; and Blair of Oelwein, Iowa and nine grandchildren. One brother, Otto; three sisters, Emma, Mrs. Roy Culbertson; Hulda, Mrs. Otley Hamlett; and Laura, Mrs. Harley Kraus all of Edgewood.
Masonic services were held Monday evening by Avalon Lodge number 606 at the Appleton Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on Tuesday with Rev Chas. Kimbrell officiating. Casket bearers were Joe Madlom, Earl Culbertson, Herman Lewis, Ed Meyers, Glen Andregg and Day Welterlen. Internment was in the Edgewood cemetery.
