[from the Thurs., 26 Feb. 1903 issue of the “Elkader Register,” Obituary section, page 3, column 5]

MRS. CHARLES LEIBROCK.

At the family residence in Elkader, Wednesday morning, Feb. 25th, occurred the death of Mrs. Charles Leibrock. Although she had been in poor health for the past few years she was able to be about until Monday evening when she was stricken with paralysis resulting in death.

Elizabeth F. Christ was born at Stratford, Ohio, Feb. 29th, 1836, and on Saturday next would have been 67 years old. She was married to Charles Leibrock in 1857 and has been a resident of Elkader since. Mr. Leibrock was many years a merchant in this city, preceding his companion to the grave Jan. 20th, [sic] 1902. Five children were born to them, Mrs. Ella Schmidt, of Lincolnville, Kans.; Frank G., of Elkader; Mrs. Hattie Hagensick, of Milwaukee; Lizzie M., of Elkader and Charles, of Chicago. A brother, Geo. Christ, of Nogales, Ariz., and two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Patterson, of Carthage, S. D., and Mrs. Mary Perry, of Columbus, Ohio, survive her.

Mrs. Leibrock was a devout wife and mother, and was ever ready to render deeds of kindness to others in time of trouble and distress. She will be missed and mourned, not only by the bereaved family but by the many friends she has gained in her residence of forty-six years at this place.

The funeral will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon.

[TRANSCRIBER’S NOTE: Her husband died on 29 Jan. 1902 according to his obituary in the Thurs., 6 Feb. 1902 issue of the “Elkader Register,” page 3, columns 4 and 5.]
