Elizabeth Lowe was born in Litchfield, Conn., on December 17, 1839, and died March 10, 1910, aged 70 years, 2 months and 21 days.
She came with her parents to Highland, Clayton county, Iowa, in the spring of 1854, and with the exception of a brief period, has lived in Highland continuously since that time.
She united in marriage with Lewis Klingman April 8th, 1858. They were parents of seven children, four sons and three daughters, one daughter dying in infancy.
She is survived by the aged husband, who for more than fifty years has been her companion; four sons, two daughters, one brother, three sisters, eighteen grand-children and two great-grand-children and a legion of friends.
Mrs. Klingman was a woman of lofty character, noble impulses and generous deeds; a faithful devoted wife, a loving mother and a true and loyal friend. No unworth thought or deed ever sullied the garments of her spotless soul. To do good was the keynote to her whole life.
Living she did all in her power to make others happy.
Dying she leaves an example worthy of emulation.
Peace to her ashes.~Register & Argus, Thursday evening, March 24, 1910 (reprinted from the Elgin Echo)
Note: burial is in the Illyria cemetery
