From the Postville Herald Thurs. July 12, 1928

Mrs. J.C. Schroeder passes last Thursday, at age of 54 Years

Rosina Schroeder was born Nov. 10, 1874, at Eivelsee, Hanover, Germany, and died at 2 a.m. July 5, 1928.

About 1890 he[sic] came to the United States and was united in wedlock with Fritz Oestman of Steelville, Ill., and this union was blessed with two sons, Fritz and William, now residing in this vicinity.

In 1901 her husband died and for several years she made her home with a brother, August Rabe of Belmond, Iowa, keeping house for him. Coming here to visit her uncle, Dietrich Nuehring, she met John C. Schroeder. Their friendship developed and in 1906 they were united in marriage.

Mrs. Schroeder soon became acquainted and very prominent in church circles, being a member of St. Paul's church, the Ladies' Aid and W.M.S., in all of which organizations she showed great interest and liberality, giving freely of her time and substance to the welfare work of the church.

Though not very well for some years she never complained and suffering quietly tried to fulfill her duties as mother, wife, and church member. Though advised to the contrary, she was determined to help with the chores on the farm, and while engaged at this work she was trampled upon by young cattle, suffering internal injuries and was taken at once to Postville Hospital. Upon her own request her pastor was summoned to her bedside to minister unto here. She exhibited a strong christian faith, saying "If he wants me now I'm willing to go--not my will but his be done." She also requested that her husband, sons, daughters and brothers be called so they might take Holy Communion with her. On the afternoon of July 4th she and her nearest kin celebrated this most blessed sacrament and the night following her Lord called her to sit and sup with him and loved ones gone before at the heavenly board.

She is survived by her grief stricken husband, J.C. Schroeder; two sons Fritz and William Oestman of near Postville; two stepchildren, Mrs. Walter Ruckdashel of Postville and Arthur Schroeder of Castalia; and three brothers, August Rabe of Belmond, Iowa, and William and Charles Rabe of Steeleville, Ill., besides many other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city last Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. E.T. Finck. Interment in the Postville cemetery.

Notes:
I noticed this obit is posted on the Wright county board as well. I wasn't sure why, but I see that Belmond is in Wright county.

I've noticed the Oestman name also spelled Oestmann in some places, not sure which is the proper spelling.
