Walter Kennedy, life long resident of Highland Township and Elkader, died at the Elkader Care Center Sunday, March 5, 1978, at age 90.

He was preceded in death by his parents, patrick Kennedy and Mary Corbeth Kennedy.

His mother and 4 brothers and sisters died of diptheria in 1889. He and his sister Ann moved to Elkader when their father died. Then Ann died in 1959.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 7, 1978, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elkader. Burial was in the church cemetery, Msgr. Francis Friedl officiated.

Pallbearers were: Mark Kainz, Ray Carolan, Ed Boland, Joe Bergan, Bernard Fangman and John Orr.
