[from Tues., 25 June 1935 issue, Carroll Daily Herald, p1, c2:

Mrs. M. Waterman, 84, Dies Today At Home In Carroll

Funeral Services For Mother Of Mrs. Amesbury Tomorrow

Mrs. Minnie Waterman, 84 years of age, mother of Mrs. Elizabeth Amesbury, passed away early this morning at her home in the Selzer apartments. Mrs. Waterman had been suffering from heart trouble for some time and was seriously ill about a year ago. She seemed to be enjoying fairly good health until a short time ago when she again suffered an attack. The heart attack at 1 o’clock this morning resulted in her death.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock at the Huffman Funeral Home. The Rev. Claude R. Cook of the Methodist church will be in charge. The body will be taken overland to Guttenberg, Ia., her former home, immediately following the Carroll services, where funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning at 10:30 o’clock at the Methodist Episcopal church. Burial will be in the Guttenberg cemetery.

Minnie Henrich was born in Germany in the year 1851. She accompanied her parents to America when she was about four years old. Soon after coming to this country, the family located at Guttenberg, Ia., where they lived for many years.

Minnie Henrich later became the bride of William Waterman, who passed away about 20 years ago. They were the parents of two children, H. W. [sic] Waterman of Mankato, Minn., and Mrs. Elizabeth Amesbury of Carroll.

Mrs. Waterman had made her home in Carroll with her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Amesbury, for the last three years, coming to Carroll from her former home at Mankato, Minn., the same time Mrs. Elizabeth Amesbury and daughter, Miss Clara, came from Algona.

Surviving Mrs. Waterman are her two children, H. W. Waterman of Mankato, Mrs. Elizabeth Amesbury of Carroll; one brother, Charles Henrich of Iowa City; two grandchildren: Miss Clara Amesbury and W. F. Amesbury, both of Carroll and one great grandchild, Billy Amesbury, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Amesbury.

[TRANSCRIBER’S NOTES: Her son was Henry E. Waterman, as noted in the 1900 and 1910 census. His tombstone at Guttenberg, IA, gives his name as H. E. Waterman. Also, her brother spelled his last name as “Hennrich.”
Finally, the spelling of Guttenberg in this transcription corrects the spelling of “Guttenburg” from the newspaper.]
