Died - Friday, April 26th, 1889, of heart disease, Mrs. John Garber, of East Elkport, Iowa. Mrs. Garber was born in Augusta county, Georgia, March 4th, 1821, consequently she was 68 years old at the time of her death.
She was married to the late John Garber on the 18th day of June, 1839, in Logan county, Ohio. In 1840 she and her husband removed to Clayton Co., and settled near Elkport where they have since resided. Her husband John Garber died in Kansas in 1886, and his remains were brought home for burial but a short time ago.
Mrs. Garber was a lady that was very highly respected for her many good qualities and the legion of friends of the family will be sorry to hear of her demise.
The funeral took place Sunday and was very largely attended by the many old time friends and neighbors of the deceased.
She leaves a family of grown up children to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate parent, and the sympathy of our entire community is extended to the bereaved family for there is one gone from among them that they all loved. Rev. McNamee, of Colesburg, officiated at the funeral.

Note: she is buried in the Old Garber cemetery
