Obituary.
Word was received here Saturday of the accidental death of Chas. M. Heiden, who was living at Rinstead [Ringsted], Emmet county. The particulars of the sad affairs are as follows:
Mr. Heiden, in company with four others, were going to the neighboring town of Fenton Friday evening to furnish music for a dance and on account of the passenger train being late they decided to make the trip with a hand car. While on their way they were run down by the passenger train and Mr. Heiden was killed and the other members of the party all received more or less serious injuries.
Mr. Heiden was born in Clayton county Oct. 23rd, 1875 and made his home in this township until a few years since, when he moved to Emmet county, and engaged in business and at the time of his death was living in Ringstead. He leaves his wife Emma, who is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Kaiser, of Osborne, one son, Lester, seven years old, and a daughter, Vera, five years old, his mother, Mrs. Frederika Heiden, two brothers, Fred and Albert, and three sisters, Mrs. Emma Cherne, and Miss Carrie Heiden, of Duluth, Minn., and Mrs. Ella Wait, of Fenton, Iowa, besides a large circle of friends.
His remains were brought here [Elkader] Tuesday and were buried from the German church Wednesday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. Franke, with burial in the East side cemetery. The Odd Fellows and Woodman lodges of which the deceased was a member, assisted in the burial services.
