Mrs. Helena Wessel passed away Monday, July 3, at the advanced age of 92 years and ?1 days. Her death occurred at the home of her son, Geo., and was due to a stroke and the infirmities of age.
She was born June 22, 1841, at Bippen, Germany, where she grew to young womanhood and was united in marriage with Bernard Wessel. Upon emigrating to America the young couple located near Colesburg.
Mrs. Wessel was a true Christian and had been an acceptable member of the Zion M.E. church. The husband and two sons, Henry and August, preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons, George, of Colesburg; Ben, of Wood and John of Edgewood, a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, beside many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Zion M.E. church, with the pastor, Rev. G.W. Clausen, officiating. Interment was made at the Zion cemetery.
