St. Olaf - Mrs. Harriet Orvis passed away Monday afternoon at the Fred Orvis home, after just a few hours illness. Funeral services will be held at the chapel on Wednesday morning at 8:30. Obituary next week.

Mrs. Harriet Orvis was born June 23, 1840 in Kane county, Illinois, and was united in marriage to W.M. Orvis February 26, 1861, and to this union five children were born, being Frank, Fred, Harry, Herbert and Charles, of whom Frank and Fred remain to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother.
The deceased moved to St. Olaf in the year 1905, her husband, W.M. Orvis, having departed this life October 23, 1902, and since 1905 has made her home with her son, Fred Orvis, except the years of 1906 and 1907 she made her home with her son Herbert, at St. Olaf, up to the time of his death.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Strandjord in St. Olaf and also at the Sand Creek church in Delaware county, on July 1, 1931, and where the deceased was laid to rest beside her husband and son Charles in the Sand Creek cemetery near Manchester, Iowa.
