JOHN PATRICK KANE 1905-1992

John Patrick Kane was born June 30, 1905 to parents Michael and Mary (Tiernan) Kane on a farm north of Monona. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Patrick's church, Monona. He attended Walnut Grove and St. Patrick's Schools.

John died on July 18th at the Cloquet, Minn. nursing home where he had resided for the past ten months. He had reached the age of eighty-seven years and eighteen days.

He had made a home for his mother on their farm, until she passed away. He moved to Davenport, Iowa and was a security guard at the Arsenal at Rock Island, Ill. He later moved to Herlong, Calif., where he held the same position. Later he moved to Carlton, Minn., where he was a security guard at an oil refinery until he retired.

In 1950 he married Mary Frances Noack, she died in 1972. In 1973 he married Evelyn Noack.

His funeral was held in St. Francis Catholic church in Carlton, Minn. at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21st, with Father Francis Paquette officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Wefelmeyer Funeral home of Cloquet was in charge of arrangements.

His pallbearers were five step grandsons and a close friend.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Mary Frances; his brother, Mike; sister, May Geraghty; and nephew Vincent Geraghty.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn; step daughters, Joanne, Evelyn and Mary Lou; five step grandsons and two step granddaughters. Also nieces, Mabel Swift of Pleasant Valley, Ia., Rose Ann Dougherty of Farmersburg, Ia., and Mary Erbe of Monona, and nephew Mike Kane, Jr.
