Funeral services for Gilbert F. Fox were held Thursday, June 1, at 10 o'clock in St. Patrick's Church, Monona, Iowa.
A celebrated mass was offered. The Very Rev. Donald Heineman was the main celebrant with Rt. Rev. Msgr. V. J. Peters concelebrating.
Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery with the Very Rev. Donald Heineman officiating. Military escort and service was held at the grave. Music was by St. Patrick's choir with David Klingeman as organist.
Honorary pallbearers were: H. T. Orr, LeRoy Darby, George Balekos Sr., Fred Hass, K. W. Rash, Herbert Thoresen.
Pallbearers were: Donald Montgomery Jr., Irvin Huinker, Robert Evans, Ivon J. Schultz, Marion Olson, Selmer Hellen.
Gilbert F. Fox was born December 31, 1896 at Monona, the son of Harry C. and Tillie (Felber) Fox and died May 28, 1972 at Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wis.
He attended St. Patrick's Parochial school and Monona Public School, ISC Ames and was graduated from the Des Moines College of Pharmacy, Des Moines. He entered the partnership of his father, Harry C. Fox, in the Fox Pharmacy, Monona.
He was married to Adeline Brandtman on May 16, 1931, at St. Patrick's Church, Monona, and served the community as councilman, MFL School treasurer and various other offices. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Patrick's Church, Kiwanis Club, Monona Commercial Club and American Legion Post.
He is survived by his wife Adeline, a sister, Sister M. Harrita of Clark College, Dubuque, two nieces, Julia Rogers Barthelme of Holtville, Calif. and Margaret Rogers Zeches, Frankville, Wis., and a sister-in-law Mrs. Ben Fox of LaCrosse, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harry C. and Tillie Fox, brothers Ben and Charles, sister Irene Fox Rogers and niece, Patricia Rogers Blenner.
