Gottfried Kurth, son of Jacob and Emma nee Fluckiger Kurth, was born Dec. 10, 1891, at Canton Bern, Switzerland, and died at the Postville hospital Jan. 12, 1958, at the age of sixty-seven years, one month and two days. He was baptized and confirmed in Switzerland.
He came to this country at the age of 15 years. He received most of his education in Switzerland, but finished in this country. He served this country in World War I.
On Sept. 28, 1928, he was united in marriage to Clara Knudson.
He is survived by his wife and three children, Mrs. Wayne (Ethel) Flack, Monona; Mrs. Alvin (Ruby) Koehn, St. Olaf, and one son, Milton, Luana; two brothers, Ben of Luana, and Louis of Elgin, and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Walter, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Muehlethaler funeral home at Elgin to the Marion church at Gunder, with the Rev. Bruce Boyce officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were: George Landsgaard, Millian Mork, Millian Loftsgaard, Kenneth Kjosa, Henry Vellerson and Quinten Clark.
