In Waltham, Connecticut, October 25, 1869, Captain Adam Larrabee, aged 82 years.
Captain Larrabee was the father of Hon. Wm. Larrabee, of Clermont, Frank Larrabee of Clayton, and Mrs. Judge (Hannah) Williams of this county; all three of whom were with him when he died.
Captain Larrabee was a graduate of West Point Military Academy, and during the last war with Great Britain, was in active and distinguished military service.
In 1822, he was elected a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, was one of the Board of Visitors to the Military Academy in 1828, and one of the Presidential electors in 1840, and for 43 years a member of the Board of Directors of the Thames National Bank of Norwalk. The Norwich Bulletin thus speaks of his social virtues:
“Captain Larrabee was a man of frugal habits and cordial manners, of a cheerful disposition, and of the strictest honor and integrity. He lived a most exemplary life, and so performed all his domestic and social duties as to win universal respect and esteem. He was a true and generous friend, and his memory will be cherished with affection by those who knew him best.”
