Mrs. Schierholz
_______Lena Fredarka [sic] Kahle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Kahle, was born at Waterloo, Iowa, Oct. 29, 1860 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Herman lemburg west of Canova at 9:45 p. m., on Feb. 15, 1930. She had been ill since early December.
She was united in marriage to Fred August Schierholz in Clayton county, Iowa, on Dec. 3, 1879. Six children were born to this union four of whom are still living and are: George A., of Spencer, Benhart A., of Onida; William F., and Mrs. Matilda Lemburg of Canova. One son died in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. Amelia Raymon, died a few years ago. Mr. Schierholz died in 1922. Other surviving relatives are four brothers, Fred of Fulda, Minn.; John of Kimbrae [Kinbrae], Minn.; August of Humboldt, S. D.; and Henry of Postville, Iowa; also three sisters, Mrs. Mary Fuelling of Farmersburg, Iowa; Mrs. Chas. Henning of Garnavillo, Iowa; and Mrs. J. D. Luhrs of Fort Morgan, Colorado.
After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Schierholz lived for twelve years in eastern Iowa, then fifteen years in O’Brien county, Iowa, three years in McCook County, South Dakota, moving to Canova in 1910.
Mrs. Schierholz was a model wife and mother, highly respected friend and neighbor and true Christian. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran church of Howard. She will be missed by many. The sympathy of all is extended to the bereft relatives.
The funeral was held last Wednesday from the local Congregational church and burial was in the Canova cemetery beside her husband. Rev. Walter Nitschke, pastor of the Howard Lutheran church conducted the services. The pall bearers were: John Genzlinger, Rudolph Hassler, William Wolff, August Callies and William Backes.
