Volga, Ia. - Services were scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at the Volga Methodist Church for Charles M. Upton, 75, who died Saturday evening at the home of his son, Charles H. just west of Volga.

The Rev. Leslie J. Faris was to officiate with the burial in Hill Crest Cemetery here.

Surviving are the son: a daughter, Mrs. Francis G. Cummings of Volga, and several grandchildren. His wife, the former, Elsie Adams, died in January 1948.

Charles Milton Upton was born February 5, 1874, on a farm near Elkader and died at the home of his son Charles Upton, May 7, 1949, at the age of 75 years, three months and two days. He had been in failing health for some time.

He was united in marriage to Elsie Maude Adams at Elkader on Oct. 3, 1905. Two children were born to them, one daughter, Elsie May Cummings, and one son, Charles H. Upton.

He spent most of his life on farms in Iowa, with the exception of five years in Dakota. His wife preceded him in death in January, 1948.

Surviving are his daughter and son; four grandchildren, all of Volga; one sister, Mrs. Wallace Lamphier of Elkader, besides other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church, with the Rev. Leslie Faris in charge.

Casket bearers were Daniel Scully, Don Leete, Ray Leete, Leo Bergan, William Christeleit and Carni Belden. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery, Volga City.

Relatives from out of town at the funeral were: Mrs. Phoebe Marble, Keota; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Adams, Fayette; Jack Adams and daughter Blanche, Mrs. Lester Carrier, Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Arthur Adams, Guttenberg; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Forsythe, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Beatty, Edgewood; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lamphier, L. D. Smith, August Storbeck, Mrs. Glen Syverson, Elkader; Mrs. John Bauer, Bridgeport, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Voshell, Mrs. Ira Voshell, Arlington.
