It does seem as though Volga City was receiving more than her share of afflictions, and it is all so sad. This epidemic has taken a large toll from Volga. Everything is being done that can be done, the doctors and nurses working day and night caring for the sick.
Kenneth Pardee, second son of Fred Pardee passed away, leaving a sorrow home. He leaves his father, mother, three brothers, one sister, and two grandmothers.
--
Kenneth Pardee, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pardee, was born at Arlington, Iowa, October 24, 1904, and departed this life Feb. 13, 1919, aged 14 years, 3 months, and 21 days.
The dreaded scourge of influenza attacked him with great violence, and in spite of the best medical skill and trained nursing, and the loving care of home folk, he passed on into the Heavenly Fathers house in the Better Land.
Kenneth was a boy of singular disposition, loving and obedient in the home circle, respectful and cheerful, in his school relations, winsome and attractive to all he came in contact with. He will be greatly missed and long remembered.
The heartfelt sympathy of the entire neighborhood goes out to the sorrowing parents and family.
He is survived by both parents and three brothers, Elias, Dean, Donald and one sister, Mildred.
The services were conducted by Rev. B. Pearson and he was laid to rest in Hill Crest cemetery.
"He is not dead the child of our affection
But gone unto that place where he
No longer needs our poor protection
And Christ himself doth rule.Within that great cloister's stillness and seclusion
By guardian angels led
Free from temptation, from sin's pollution,
He lives, whom we call dead.
