August Ihde
Mr. August Ihde died in a hospital at Omaha, Neb., on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 27th 1929, after a long illness. Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at his home and at Em. Ev. Lutheran church at Cook, Nebr., and interment made in the cemetery there.
August William Ihde, son of Joachim and Elizabeth Palm Ihde, was born in Farmersburg township on February 28, 1865. On April 14, 1878, he was confirmed at Clayton Centre by Rev. Seifert. In 1890, January 30, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna M. Hempeler. This union was blessed with five children: Adeline, Florence, August Jr., Alvin and Clara; the three former preceded their father in death.
In the spring of 1905, the family moved to Nebraska, settling in Johnson county, near Cook. Mr. Ihde had been ailing for the last two years, a rheumatic condition being his malady. As a last resort to stop impending paralysis, he submitted to an operation at Lord Lister hospital in Omaha on Saturday morning, Aug. 24th, but post-operative pneumonia developed and he passed away on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 27th. He leaves his wife, son Alvin, daughter Clara; two sisters, Mrs. Wilhelmina Nobbmann of Emerald, Nebr., and Mrs. Marie Luehsen of Garnavillo; one brother, William, of Garnavillo, and many other relatives and friends to mourn his death.
