Margaret Sophia Rueter
Miss Maggie Reuter, 80, died at the home of her niece, Mrs. John Biedermann north of town (Volga City) Friday noon, December 12, 1941. She had been in failing health for some time. She came from Garnavillo two weeks ago to stay a while in the Biedermann home.
Miss Rueter was one of the donors of the pipe organ at St. Paul’s church and in recognition of this gift, a special selection, “Memories” by Demarest was played on the organ at the service.
The deceased was born on a farm near Garnavillo on October 8, 1861, and was the oldest of a family of nine children. She lived with her parents until their death and in 1925 moved to Garnavillo.
She is survived by three nieces, Mrs. Lawrence Schulte, Mrs. John Biedermann and Miss Marie Mueller; and three nephews, Oliver and Valmah Mueller and Herman Wehrkamp.
The body was taken to the Dickman funeral home at Garnavillo, from where the funeral was held Monday afternoon, December 15. She was laid to rest in the Garnavillo City Cemetery.
