Anna Maria Haman
Anna Maria Haman, nee Shultz whose death was announced in our last issue, was born in Glesin, Mecklenburg, Schwerin, Germany, on Aug. 24, 1848. She came to this country 27 years ago last spring. Immediately on her arrived she was married to her surviving husband, with whom she has lived ever since in a happy wedded life. Two children were born to her, one of whom died in infancy, the other, Ella, is left to comfort and solace the declining years of her father.
Mrs. Haman suffered much from illness, having been under physicians care for many years. During all her many cares and trials she displayed the patience of a Christian, who left everything to God, knowing, that his ways, though mysterious, are for the best. She was an exemplary wife, and a kind indulgent mother. The void caused by her death cannot be filled. The esteem in which the deceased was held in the community is best shown by the large concourse of friends who were present at her obsequies. The funeral occurred on Saturday afternoon under the charge of Rev. Gammelin. Our sympathies are with the husband and the orphan. Burial in the Garnavillo cemetery.
